I adore podcasts. I love that I can learn something new or be inspired by someone on my commute to work, driving to visit my family, or while folding laundry.

Here are a few of my favorite episodes that I listened to this past year.

Marie Forleo

Marie Forleo podcastWhen I lived in California, I enrolled in Marie Forleo’s B-School, which helped me launch my business. I appreciate her down-to-earth, playful, and approachable way of inspiring people to build their business and live their dream.

Her interview with Dr. Brené Brown was fabulous. I remember very clearly listening to this episode at the gym, and knowing I would need to go back and listen to it again.

The highlight for me in this episode was when Dr. Brown said, “When we use dehumanizing language, it says much more about us than the people we’re railing against and it chips away at our soul.”

Yup. Need to work on that one in this polarized political climate.

Beautiful Writers Podcast

Beautiful Writer's podcast thumbnailI found this podcast via Danielle LaPorte’s Instagram post about co-hosting an interview with Tom Hanks. Danielle is the former co-host of this podcast with fellow writer Linda Sivertsen. This conversation was interesting and inspiring, which led me to subscribe to the podcast.

Other interviews were equally as wonderful, including one of my all time favorites, Marianne Williamson. I appreciated her talking about the importance of listening to the “still, small voices within” and how two major times in her life she didn’t remember to and suffered the consequences. Such a difficult concept learn and even harder to remember sometimes!

Tara Brach

Tara Brach podcast thumbnailOf course, anyone who has visited my blog will not be surprised by this podcast selection. Darkness of the Womb was an episode that I loved.

When I spent the weekend at Tara Brach’s retreat at the Garrison Institute, one of her talks was centered around this concept. It hit me right at the core.

She quotes American documentary filmmaker, civil rights activist, and Sikh interfaith leader Valarie Kaur, who says “What if this darkness is not the darkness of the tomb but the darkness of the womb?”

Beautiful.
